It’s crucial to consult your vet before switching your dog to a new diet, especially if they have pancreatitis. A low-fat diet, however, is crucial. This is because when a dog is exposed to a high-fat meal, their pancreas is forced to work overtime to produce the necessary enzymes to break down the fat. While a healthy and balanced diet is recommended for dogs with pancreatitis, vets might also suggest pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs. It is extremely important to consult with a veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan that is tailored towards your dog’s specific needs.
